Volunteering is a productive and rewarding way to connect and contribute to the well-being of your community it can also provide a healthy boost to your self-confidence, self-esteem and life satisfaction. Another good reason to volunteer is it helps you make new friends, expand your network, and boost your social skills.
For others it can give you the opportunity to practice important skills used in the workplace, such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, project planning, task management, and organization. I encourage young people just starting out with some simple “interest” Volunteer Activities to build your social skills….if you are shy maybe an animal shelter would be a wonderful start up experience for you – http://www.paws.org/volunteer.html
